Burgundy's most valuable vineyard, Romanée-Conti, covers 1.81 hectares — smaller than three football pitches. That scale explains the region better than any map.
From Dijon City Centre, 21000 Dijon, France, the Côte d'Or escarpment runs south in a narrow ribbon barely 300 metres wide in places, and every fold in that limestone has a name, a wall, and a legal boundary.
Those boundaries are ancient.
